The best book of all four in this series with some series hot action between the sheets!

I have read all four books but this review is only for the first one (January, February, and March). Mia is a spunky 25 year old beauty that is in a financial bind and is trying to right by her sister and her father - the man who got into a million dollar debt. The first month in, she was already in love with her first client. I loved Wes and my heart broke a little that she didn't stay with him but then again, the series would end. She moves onto her next client, a hottie French man named Alec who photographs and paints her as his muse. The sex is beyond hot and a little taboo. The March man is a hottie but he's gay and I found this client a bit boring and it seemed like it was more of the author's personal agenda. However, it was heartfelt and overall, the first three months had me addicted to Mia's story especially when she has a surprise visitor at the end of March join her in bed.

This was a new author for me... I was very intrigued by the concept of 12 guys, 12 months...

Once I started I could not stop, I purchased them all on audio, and listened to them one right after the other...

I didn't take long to fall in love with the characters.

I was afraid that Mia would come off as a prostitute... but that is so not the case... Sex is a big part of these books, but it's not ALL about sex... some months she does not get intimate with her clients at all.

The life lessons along the way really are amazing and beautifully scripted. Audrey Carlan's beautiful and flowery writing is captivating. I will definitely read more of her books and I will re-read the Calendar books in the future because Mia's journey is worth more than 1 ride!

About the Author
Tove Jansson (1914–2001) was born in Helsinki and spent much of her life in Finland. She is the author of the Moomin books, including Comet in Moominland and Finn Family Moomintroll. Born into an artistic family—her father was a sculptor and her mother was a graphic designer and illustrator—Jansson studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, and L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In addition to her Moomin books, she also wrote several novels, drew comic strips and worked as a painter and illustrator. In 1966, she was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for her body of work. Jansson had a studio in Helsinki but spent most of her time at her home on a small island called Klovharu.

The guide is written in the first person, and because it is authored by two people, this can sometimes lead to confusion. This book gave insights and time saving experiene!

I enjoyed this book's insights into the world of Pro and Amerature bicycle racing. This book is wonderful for someone who wants to improve their cycling beyond just riding. Connie and Davis share their numerous facinating experiences that can save you valuable time by not having to learn them the hard way. I especially enjoyed the chapter on junior racing, because I am one.

Good Training Manual

I am new to road cycling, and this book provides a good set of training plans for me. It would also be useful for a more advanced cyclist. Also, I like that the writers go back to basics, such as form, etc. A lot of people assume that they just get on a bike and ride, but as a runner who has had injuries in the past, form is very critical even in a simple sport.

The writing can be a little dry and clinical. I would have like to seen a little more info on common cycling injuries and how to handle. If you have ever read The Complete Idiot's Guide for Jogging and Running, Bill Rodgers does a great job in explaining common injuries to that sport and which ones are safe to contine training through, when to rest, how to take care of simple injuries, and when to see a doctor.

Also, if you are looking at new equipment, this book provides some timeless principles in selecting frame (geomoetry), components, etc. However, you will probably want something more up-to-date if you are looking for assistance with the latest products. This book was written in 1992.

I originally bought this book when it came out in 1992 after Bicycling Magazine had a blurb about it. It was Davis Phinney and Connie Carpenter telling you how to race- how could you pass it up? The book covers a lot subject matter and doesn't go very deep into any particular area, but as a quick all-in-one reference to get you moving in the right direction, it does well. Some of it reads like stereo instructions, but you don't need or want Hemingway's prose to learn bike fitting techniques or high speed cornering- just information-packed, step by step instruction. The bad part about this book is that it's dated. It's 20+ years old now and the information is based on 80s and very early 90s technology, so there is no mention of power meters, GPS technology, computers, or anything internet-based, heart rate is addressed, but not like it would be if the book were published today. So take it for what it is (a cycling book that was cutting edge, but now retro).
